About Jeremy Mike Willemse

I have recently completed my Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree at Massey University, Albany (on Auckland's North Shore), with a major in Computer Science and minor in Information Technology and was awarded inclusion into the Pro-Vice Chancellor's Merit List indicating a first-class pass. I am continuing my computer science studies with a year-long postgraduate BSc (honours) program. Upon the completion of which, I intend on furthering my academic career with the commencement of a PhD.

Research

My undergraduate research project focused on the 'Automated Calibration and Colour Classification for Objects of Arbitrary Shape' and included the development of a computer vision system which implements several pre-existing computer vision algorithms and techniques, E.g., Fuzzy Colour Contrast Fusion (FCCF), the rg-Chromaticity colour space and a 'pie-slice' descriptor decision region. A novel algorithm for optimising the pie-slice decision region was developed - Arbitrary Shape Colour Classification (ASCC). ASCC uses logical connectives and statistical methods to extract the best descriptor information for a target object from a real-time camera feed.

At honours level, I am yet to decide on my research thesis topic. However, it is likely to involve artificial intelligence and computer vision for an omni-directional robot.

Programming

In general, I use C/C++ for application software and PHP, JavaScript, CSS and MySQL for websites. A complete list of programming technologies with which I am familiar follows:

  • C / C++
  • Java
  • PHP
  • CSS
  • HTML / XHTML / XML
  • C#/ VisualBasic .NET
  • QT
  • OpenCV
  • JavaScript
  • SQL
  • Python
  • Prolog
  • Haskell
  • XPath / XSLT
  • ARM Assembly
  • D

About This Website

The primary purpose of jeremywillemse.co.nz is a portfolio of my research and software development. I intend on updating it with links to any papers I may publish and downloadable source code for any open-source software I create. The blog section includes posts that are relevant to computer science or software development in some way.
